Kids Lesson – Week 15 – Joy and Wisdom in times of Trouble

Jeremy and Nick share about asking God for wisdom as stated in the verse for this week. They talk about a king named Jehoshaphat.  The story shares how he asked God for wisdom and what happened to the army he was going to fight.

Bible Story: Joy and Wisdom in Times of Trouble (James 1:2-5)

Big Idea: God calls us to seek Him for wisdom in times of trouble.

Memory Verse: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 (NKJV)

Kids Lesson – Week 14 – Jesus is the Way, Truth and the Life

Jennifer and Les share that there is only 1 way to have eternal life. This is not based on what they think. It is based on God’s word. This week’s lesson talks about how you get to have eternal life. They have been talking about the 7 I AM statements from the book of John.

Jennifer’s mystery box? How many of you would agree to eat what’s in the box without knowing what’s in there? Which box would have been your favorite? Sardines? Baby food peas? OREOs? Check this week’s activities, song and lesson.

Kids Lesson – Week 13 – Jesus is the Light of the World

Jesus is the light that protects us from trouble and danger. Sometimes you might feel like you have a blindfold on like Jeremy and Jennifer did. Trusting in Jesus and following Him can light your path.

Big Idea: Jesus is the light that leads us out of darkness.

Memory Verse: “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in darkness. They will have the light. They will have life.” John 8:12 (NIrV)

Kids Lesson – Week 12 – Jesus is the Good Shepherd

How many of you think sheep are cute and cuddly? Do you think sheep are smart? Well, not really. They need protection as they tend to wander off and do their own thing. Sound familiar? We are like sheep and without protection and guidance we tend to wander off where we shouldn’t sometimes. Jesus is our shepherd and we can have His protection and guidance. Sheep learn the voice of their shepherd. Do you know the sound of Jesus’ voice? Sometimes we can be too busy to even hear it. Check out the video lesson.

Bible Story: Jesus is the Good Shepherd           (John 10:1-18)

Big Idea: Jesus is the good shepherd, so we should listen to His voice and follow Him.

Memory Verse: “I am the good shepherd; and I know my sheep and am known by my own.”                   John 10:14 (NKJV)

Kids Lesson – Week 11 – Jesus is the Vine

One of my favorite fruits grows on a vine…..you guessed it, GRAPES. When grapes are no longer attached to the vine, they eventually shrivel up and become another fruits….you guessed it, RAISINS. When grapes aren’t part of the vine anymore they no longer get any nutrients. Sort of like, us as Christians. When we are connected with Jesus, we shrivel up and don’t get the nutrients we need.  This week, Dave and Jennifer are talking about the Fruits of the Spirit. Do you know all of them? Which fruit do you need to focus on the most? We grow by staying connected to Jesus.

Ask your parents if you can try the grape challenge. I tried it and didn’t get any. Hopefully, you can do better than me.

Bible Story: Jesus is the True Vine (John 15:1-17)

Big Idea: Jesus is the vine, so we can grow by staying connected to Him.

Memory Verse: “I am the vine. You are the branches. If you remain joined to me, and I to you, you will bear a lot of fruit.” John 15:5 (NIrV)

Kids Lesson – Week 10 – God’s Story in our Lives

A lot of kids (and grown-ups) think of the Bible as a collection of individual stories, but it’s more than that. The Bible is actually one big story about God’s love and redemption of people. And even though the Bible is finished, God’s story continues in the lives of the believers. This week, we’re going to be learning the BIG Bible story from beginning to end.

This week, Bible trivia pits Team Les against Team Nick. Which side will you choose to be on? More importantly, how many questions will YOU be able to answer?

Bible Story: God’s Story in Our Lives

Big Idea: God’s story of love and redemption continues today in the lives of His children.

Memory Verse: “Some people did accept him and did believe in his name. He gave them the right to become children of God.” John 1:12

Kids Lesson – Week 9 – Paul is Arrested

Chaz, Jennifer and Les are in the field once again to report about how Paul was arrested. However, the soldiers didn’t stop him from telling the others about Jesus. Have you shared Jesus with others? Do you know of someone that you could and should share about Jesus? It’s not always easy being bold and brave when we share Jesus with others. Like t. he song says, We want to be your hands and feet

Bible Story: Paul is Arrested (Acts 21-28)

Big Idea: The good news of Jesus sets us free from sin, so we can tell our story to others.

Memory Verse: Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy, Psalm 107:2

Kids Lesson – Week 8 – Paul and Silas in Prison

Chaz, Jennifer and Les report about what happened to Paul and Silas went to prison for telling people about Jesus. Would you be willing to go to prison like they did? Have you ever felt the earth move? Well, Paul and Silas and the guards did. See what happens as you watch.

Bible Story: Paul and Silas in Prison (Acts 16:16-40)

Big Idea: The good news of Jesus is for all people, so we should always be ready to share why we believe.

Memory Verse: But a]sanctify b]the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

Kids Lesson – Week 7 – Paul’s Great Escape

This week, we join Chaz and Jennifer as they tell about how Paul escaped with the help of some friends. How bold are you in telling people of about Jesus?
I think I need to get one of those Bonkers buttons for here at church. Enjoy this week’s lesson and try not to drive your parents Bonkers.

Bible Story: Paul’s Great Escape (Acts 9:1-19)

Big Idea: The Holy Spirit gives us power to boldly tell others about the good news of Jesus.

Memory Verse:  But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be a]witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 (NKJV)

Kids Lesson – Week 6 – Saul Sees The Light

It is pretty amazing how God can change your life. In this lesson, you will ‘see’ how God changed the life of Saul. If you have asked God to be your personal savior, does your life look different? Are you changed?

Bible Story: Saul Sees the Light (Acts 9:1-19)

Big Idea: Jesus changes our heart, so we are a new creation when we follow Him.

Memory Verse: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.   2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)

Kids Lesson – Week 5 – The Kingdom of Heaven

How many of you like to go on a treasure hunt? It’s always a mystery of what you might find. This weeks lesson is about a different kind of treasure. The treasure of Heaven. There are 3 letters that we use to to help those who want to know more about how to find that treasure. It’s as simple as A-B-C. (Admit, Believe,Confess/Choose). Has there been a moment when you chose to Admit, Believe and Choose to follow Jesus. For me, it was July 10, 1976. I was ten years old when I learned about a different set of ABC’s. I can’t nor do I want to even imagine what my life would be like if I had not made that choice.

Bible Story: The Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 7:7-11; Matthew 13:44)

Big Idea: God promises eternal life to those who seek and find Him.

Memory Verse: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7 (NIrV)

Kids Video Lesson – Week 4 – Jesus is Alive

Celebrating Easter this year was certainly different. No matter where you were or who you were with, the story stays the same. Jesus arose from the grave and He is alive!!! That stays the same no matter what.  Check out this video and the activities with it. It is always good to hear the Easter story.

There is an option to pause and discuss as a family. One question is “How does your life look different because Jesus is alive today?” Good question for family discussion.

Bible Story: Jesus is Alive (Matthew 27:27-28:10)

Big Idea: Jesus rose from the dead, so I can find a new life in Him.

Memory Verse: even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).” Ephesians 2:5 (NKJV)

Kids Video Lesson – Week 3 – Death at the Cross

It’s hard to believe, but Easter is almost here. With that in mind, this Sunday we’re going to be learning about the saddest day of the Holy Week—the day Jesus died on the cross. As sad as it is, though, it’s such an important part of the Gospel story. There is no, “He is risen,” without their first being “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”

When you’re ready, watch the lesson video with your kids. It’s fun for the whole family and there is an opportunity to pause and discuss. Afterwards, there are two great worship videos from Yancy to choose from: one is for older kids and one is for younger kids.

Those were definitely some silly laws. I wonder how many we have here in Florida?

One of the laws that I would break on a daily basis from my home state of North Carolina is: Singing off key. Yes it is against the law in NC to sing off key. Goes back to the 1800’s when a man was arrested for singing loudly and totally off key.

Here are some activities to go along with the lesson.

Lesson Details – Week 3

Bible Story: Death on the Cross (Luke 23:32-46)

Big Idea: God’s grace is big enough, so we can go to Him no matter who we are or what we’ve done.

Memory Verse: For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,       Titus 2:11 (NKJV)

Kids Video Lesson – Week 2

Easter is only 2 weeks away and it doesn’t look like we will get to be at church together. However, we will have our lessons, just online. This weeks video is about the Last Supper. This was a time when Jesus sits down with his friends, the 12 Disciples for one final meal together. He plans to prepare them for what will happen in the days to come. Check out the video below and enjoy the worship songs.

Watching the chubby bunny game reminded me of the fun we at Kids Camp with mini marshmallows. I think our record was around 60+ mini marshmallows in somebunny’s mouth at one time. Until next week, stay safe, wash your hands and don’t drive your parents too crazy.

Keeping you all in my prayers and looking forward to when we can all be at church together again.

Here are some fun activities to go with the lesson.

LESSON DETAILS: Week 2

Big Idea: Jesus gave His body and blood for our sins, so we can remember Him through communion.

Bible Basis: Matthew 26:17-30; Luke 22:7-30

Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 11:28

Kids Video Lesson – Week 1

I certainly miss seeing all my OBC Kiddos. Hopefully you aren’t driving your parents too crazy. I have a video lesson for you to watch about when Jesus washed the disciples feet. I know we have talked about doing this and most of you said “NO WAY” would you wash someone else’s dirty feet. Well I am glad that Jesus didn’t feel this way. Each week until we get to meet again, I will post a new video lesson. Yes, I will be quizzing you when all get back together. So listen close.
